LogistikPlan industry sector: Commercial Vehicles & Suppliers
Integrate production and logistics more closely
The market for commercial vehicles will develop in a similarly ambivalent way over the coming years as the passenger car segment. Daimler, for example, plans to launch electrically powered trucks on the market, while VW and Scania are focusing on increasingly connected fleets and platooning: vehicles travel with ever smaller distances thanks to a shared control system.
Despite global growth prospects, German truck manufacturers are hardly benefiting from the international boom. Today, three of the five largest truck manufacturers are already Chinese companies. Their strength lies in producing large volumes at the lowest possible costs.
German manufacturers and their suppliers must move closer together technologically and logistically in order to better utilize the limited margin potential. This applies equally to producers of trucks, agricultural machinery, and industrial trucks, as well as construction machinery and cranes, trams, and trains.
